First New Orchid for the Season

Diuris sulpurea Nov 18 Photo: Jan Allen

At the November workday the team was excited to discover another new orchid in the reserve, a fine specimen of Diuris sulphurea.  It’s right at the entrance.

There’s lots else flowering in the reserve too – waratahs, Hibbertia, Grevillea laurifolia, Dampiera, etc although happily little gorse or broom.  There are plenty of Caladenia & Thelymitra orchids flowering nearby so we’re hopeful of some more new species being spotted in the reserve in the coming months.
