We recently had our second bushcare day after a long break due to the Covid lockdown and wet weather last December. It wasn’t too fine in January either and with rain threatening all morning we had an early finish just in time to get home dry. With all the rain and the long break the reserve is looking very green and healthy. On both days we did our regular circuit of the reserve, removing weeds along the way and then concentrating on favourite areas or weedy grasses and montbretia.
Conspicuous flowers in December were Goodenia bellidifolia, Lomandra obliqua and Poranthera microphylla, the latter easily overlooked but flowering well this year all around Blackheath. This month the Epacris pulchella is looking great too. A couple of photos are below and others from last year can be found at Reserve recovering well from drought
